The descent takes around 15 minutes and offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Libyan Sea and the palm forest below — one of the most photographed viewpoints in South Crete.
Be prepared for the return climb, especially during midday heat. Comfortable shoes and water are recommended.
2. Eastern Access (Less Climbing)
A second access point lies further east. From here, you approach the beach by crossing a shallow creek (the bridge is broken, so beware of wet feet) and walking more gradually toward the river mouth.
There is significantly less climbing involved, making it a preferred option for visitors who want to avoid the steep ascent back up.
Both routes lead to the same extraordinary setting — but the experience differs slightly.
